Book Synopsis

Elisha has big secrets she has kept for years.

Enduring years of pain while she watched her soulmate unravel, she learned to love the unlovable and hide the unthinkable. This book, based on a true story, is about loving an addict and keeping his secrets.

Elisha’s story is about resilience, compassion, tremendous vulnerability, and most of all, possibility. Her experience teaches readers to embrace pain and not avoid it. Through her tale of heartache comes an understanding of the complex relationship between guilt and innocence, anger and forgiveness, and despair and hope. Though she has never known love without addiction, she has also never known an addict unworthy of love.

Truly a page turner, I could not put the book down. Lots of tears, both of sorrow, and laughter. This book is raw, and hits you in all the feels.

Whether you soak this up in little sips like poetry or philosophy, or whether you stay up all night and read it cover to cover in one sitting because of how gripping this story is; it doesn’t matter how you choose to read it, the impact will be the same. This is a very important story to be told. And even more important for it to be heard. This is a story that you will feel in a way that is raw and so very real, shaking your foundation and opening up your heart to this beautiful human existence. A celebration of love, and a journey of courage and grace which will make you cry, make you laugh, and most importantly, make you treasure your life with all its sorrows and its joys.

Elisha has incredible strength and truth to share with the world. This is an incredible, true, heart-breaking story about my dear friend, Brad.
I have never been so moved by a story. Although it had my personal interest, this is a story that should be shared with as many people as possible. It could save lives. It saved mine and altered my perception of choices, addiction, love, and the importance of caring for yourself.
This is a true story. It is hard to digest at times, but so is life. Elisha writes in a relatable voice. Her readers are truly blessed by her wisdom. As Brad said, “wisdom is the perfect balance of intelligence and love.”
I have laughed, cried (okay cried a lot), and breathed in Brad and Elisha’s words. It is powerful to me, that his words and hers will live on forever together.

I have been following Elisha on tiktok for some time and had this book on my wishlist since day one of hearing about it. As a recovering alcoholic the last chapter of the book is something that ever person in a form of recovery should read. Being reminded by Bradley’s words that you are worthy is a very powerful reminder. Elisha has an incredible way with words she reminds us that truth is important weather it be easy or the ugliest hardest thing to live by. I received the book on Friday and finished it by Monday which meant significant me time since I couldn’t put it down. If you have a loved one struggling or if you have struggled my suggestion would be run and get this book. I felt validated in so many ways reading this book. I look forward to future reading from Elisha.

This book was raw vulnerable authentic, and took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed I cried, and I even cried while I was laughing at one point – When she took her turn to speak after the gentleman had made a lovely slideshow of photos with music….
I think anyone dealing with addiction and how it wreaks havoc on relationships would do well to read this book.

I am not one to pick up a book and read, and this book had me glued. Started late at night reading, fell asleep and finished it the next day.
Loving an addict is not easy, I found this hit home hard. I find comfort knowing I’m not alone. Your truth is going to help many others, and has gave me hope to find my worth.
This is pure vulnerability and self love at its finest. A must read!
